None of this is a secret. It is just how the market works, and it is why we built AussieWave the way we did.
The renewal jump
Headline rates advertised at a fraction of the real price, then multiplied at renewal. It is common to see an introductory price renew at five times what you first paid. Our price is the same in year three as it is in month one.
“Managed” that isn’t
Plenty of hosting is sold as managed when what you actually get is a control panel with an update button. Read the fine print and you will often find the words “you manage the updates”. If we call it managed, we do the work.
Billing you in someone else’s currency
Several of the big managed hosts bill Australians in US dollars, so your invoice moves with the exchange rate and your bank adds a conversion fee. We bill in Australian dollars, full stop.
Support that is a queue, not a person
Offshore ticket systems where you re-explain your site to a different person every time, and phone support is a paid upgrade. You get our office number, and we already know your site.
Honest about who we’re for
We would rather be upfront than oversell. AussieWave is a great fit if you value your time and want the tech handled — and we are not the cheapest option if you genuinely enjoy tinkering in cPanel at midnight.

Questions people ask before switching
Who is actually behind AussieWave?
AussieWave is Australian owned and run from our office at Tecoma in Victoria, east of Melbourne. We come out of managed IT — looking after business technology is what we already do, and hosting is the same discipline applied to websites.
Is my website really hosted in Australia?
Yes. Your site runs on Australian infrastructure, which means shorter round trips for Australian visitors and your data staying onshore. Support comes from our Victorian office in your timezone.
What happens if I want to leave?
You leave, and we help you go. There is no lock-in contract and no exit fee, and we will hand over your files and database or work with your new provider to move the site. A host that makes leaving difficult is telling you something about how confident they are.
Why should I pay more than the cheap hosts charge?
You should not, unless the work has value to you. Budget hosting is genuinely good value if you are happy to run your own updates, watch your own backups and fix your own site when a plugin conflict breaks it. What you are paying us for is that work not being yours — and someone answering the phone when it matters.
